Madam Omam Njomo Esther once more stands in the corridors of distinction. Her efforts to mobilising Cameroonian women to get registered into the electorates register during the 2015 annual revision of the electoral register resulting to a drastic increase in the number of registered women was saluted recently by Cameroon's Elections supervision body, ELECAM.
The solemn ceremony that unfolded during the afternoon hours of last Monday, September, 21, 2015 was chaired by the Head of Division for electorate Operations at ELECAM in the person of Dr. Menang Thadeus. Applauding the efforts of this outstanding woman of magnitude and distinction, Dr. Menang said this gesture was worth emulating by other activists in Africa. He further used this opportunity to tell cameroonians, he was very elated to know that there are people who could understand the challenges ELECAM was going through and come to its assistance.
After receiving a package consisting of a couple of ELECAM fabrics and a brown envelop which the ELECAM authority described as taxi fare, Mme Omam Njomo on her part expressed gratitudes to ELECAM for having recognised their efforts geared towards mobilising grass root women to have their names inscribed in the electorates register. According to her, this gesture by ELECAM was enough to keep her going.
Worthy of note is the fact that, this recognition ceremony came barely few days after Madam Omam Njomo Esther was awarded the best team builder during an earlier Resource Mobilisation Development Strategy Boot camp in Johannesburg, South Africa. This camp that was organised by the African Women Development Fund (AWDF) in collaboration with the Surplus People Project was aimed at training some selected partner NGOs around the continent on better administration and effective fund raising strategies. She used this opportunity as usual to expose reach Out Cameroon (REO) to the world.
According to Mrs. Njomo, it was another chance to mark a new milestone in the life of Reach Out Cameroon. "It was time for visibility actions". She said at the workshop ground. Many participants came to get an insight of REO's best practices through its capitalisation magazine. The Program Head of PASC , Mr Bertin Lukanda presented on all that PASC did while The Relay Oragnaisations' representative in the person of Dr Gambo also presented their balance sheet.
Talking to the Press recently, she called on all women to massively move to voters registration booths to get their names into the electorates register as voting is one of the major ways through which women can influence the political landscape of Cameroon.
